How to Stake a Plant

what you should attach to the stake ✔️

✔️ the main stem / internode
✔️ the section with nodes or aerial roots
These are the parts that actually want to climb and will grip the stake over time.

what you should NOT attach

leaves or petioles (the little stems holding the leaves)
They move naturally toward light and tying them down can cause snapping, stress, or twisted growth.

how to tie it correctly

• tie loosely with something soft like velcro
• adjust as the plant grows

bonus tip most people don’t know

If your plant has aerial roots, position them against the stake. That’s what allows the plant to actually climb and support itself as it grows.
